I don’t know everything… but take my hand

She said, “I hate public speaking – so how can I stand up against other professionals and feel confident? I feel like I’m not good enough.” I laughed… because I recognise that statement as one I used to say. I know that feeling all too well!

New day, new lessons…

In your role as a small business owner, trying to build your business and make a sustainable living from your work. When it comes to navigating the ups and downs of self employment – we’re all learning along the way. We make good choices and poor choices, and sometimes need to react quickly to events out of our control. 

It’s important to remember that no one has all the answers. I certainly don’t – I too used to suffer from doubts and low self esteem. I’d fallen into patterns of negative thinking that were much more cruel than I’d ever hear from another. As a child, I had boundless energy and confidence. Over time, I learned to blend into the background in my career too. It felt easier to do, with less challenges. However, I realised this made me easy to overlook – and worse still, forget. Being overlooked stunts your progress in any career – being passed up for promotion, and no recognition for your skills. For anyone with ambition, it’s a mindset trap. You need confidence at all times, and faith in your abilities. Most of all, you want to use that confidence to make a name for yourself; be remembered, and have true impact in interviews, meetings and networking events.

When imposter syndrome strikes…

All I can promise you is this: you can change the way you think, feel and act. You can learn to be more confident and lose those doubts.  If this sounds like you, I want to assure you that all these mindset hurdles can be overcome. I can share with you techniques which can lift you on days when you don’t feel good enough – when the imposter syndrome strikes. Those people you look up to, the ones who never seem to falter? You can learn to be as confident as they are. I can show you practices which I use daily, that boost your confidence and feel-good factor from within.
